Eliza Nemser

Executive Director, Climate Changemakers

Dr. Eliza Nemser is the Executive Director of Climate Changemakers, which is a nonpartisan, volunteer climate advocacy organization she co-founded in August 2020. A PhD geoscientist turned climate strategist, organizer, and advocate, Eliza pivoted from a career in earthquake hazard analysis to climate advocacy after the historic 2017 Northern California wildfires and was recognized as a 2022 Grist50 climate ‘fixer’. 

Nemser serves on the Board of Directors at the Center for Environmental Health, on the Advisory Board at ClimateVoice, and on the Steering Committee at the 1.5° Climate Strategies Group. Previously, she worked as a consulting environmental advocate and strategist with the NRDC Action Fund, and as a Senior Seismic Geologist at AECOM, a multinational infrastructure consulting firm. 

Nemser completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Earthquake Engineering and Seismology at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. She earned a PhD and MS in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a BA in Geosciences from Williams College
