Tanisia Reed Coachman is a home health care worker and single mother. At the time of the 2016 Houston Tax Day Flood, she was living in publicly subsidized housing at the Arbor Court Apartments in near a flood-prone bayou. She survived the flood by swimming to safety with her two children, who were nine and fifteen years old at the time.
