Sergey Petrov

Consul General of the Russian Federation in San Francisco

As the Consul General of Russia in San Francisco, Sergey Petrov promotes trade‚ economic‚ cultural and scientific relations between Russia and the United States. Over 30 years ago he joined diplomatic service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Petrov’s first assignment was at the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan. Upon completion of his tour of duty, he worked at various posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1995 he was appointed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the U.S., specializing in congressional affairs and interparliamentary exchanges. In 2013 Petrov assumed the duties of Consul General of the Russian Federation in San Francisco. 

Petrov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1986. He speaks English, as well as Farsi and French.
