Scott Stephens is a professor of Fire Science, co-director of the Center for Fire Research and Outreach and head of the Stephen’s Lab. Stephens’ research currently investigates adaptive management and ecological restoration in areas most likely to experience wildfires, though he has conducted research relating to wildland fires for more than 20 years. He is most interested in the interactions between wildland fires and ecosystems, looking closely at the future of fires, fire management, forest policy and climate change. Stephens is a certified Senior Fire Ecologist and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2014. He received his Ph.D. in Wildland Resource Science at UC Berkeley, where he currently teaches.
