Kevin Miller

Reporter, Maine Public Radio

Kevin Miller is the State House correspondent for Maine Public Radio where he covers government, politics and elections. Miller spent nearly 25 years as a newspaper reporter in Maine, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. before making the leap to public radio in 2021.

In addition to covering the political beat in three state capitols (plus DC), Miller has spent years reporting on environmental, climate and education issues. But he’s always been a policy wonk and believes that journalists have an obligation to help the public better understand the complex policy issues that are at the heart of many political debates. In 2023, for instance, Miller and his colleague, Steve Mistler, dove deep to explain a controversial “public power” proposal targeting Maine’s two large, privately owned electric utilities.

When he’s not working, Miller enjoys kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing and generally spending time outdoors throughout New England.
