Alex Levinson

Executive Director, Pacific Environment

Alex Levinson is the Executive Director of Pacific Environment, a group that partners with communities and environmental groups in China, the Russian Far East, Alaska, California, and elsewhere on the Pacific Rim. Under his leadership, Pacific Environment challenges oil drilling in fragile Arctic waters and whale-breeding grounds in Russia's Sea of Okhotsk, seeks to ensure that development in Arctic regions is managed and human-scale, and aims to contribute to China's revolution in energy from dirty fossil fuels to a clean energy regime. Levinson previously served as Legal Director and, then, Clean Energy Director at the Sierra Club, where he helped guide that organization to support more than 5,000 megawatts of solar power encompassing 15 projects.    

Levinson is a graduate of Harvard College and Stanford Law School.
