Richard Alley Receives First Annual Stephen Schneider Award for Outstanding Climate Science Communication

Dr. Richard Alley was presented with the first $10,000 Climate One award in honor of the late Stanford climatologist Stephen Schneider. Dr. Alley, a professor of Geosciences at Penn State and host of the PBS documentary "Earth: The Operators Manual," once testified before Congress using his bald head to illustrate ice age cycles and recorded a video explaining geoscience while strumming guitar to a Johnny Cash song. An outstanding scientist and public educator, Dr. Alley knows how to reach people through their heads and their hearts.
